Frequently Asked Questions about scuba diving and certification.
Do I have to be certified to scuba dive?
No the Discover Scuba dive tour is perfect for someone who wants to try scuba diving without a certification. Some requirements are that you be able to swim, be comfortable in water and ready to have fun.
SCUBA diving is dangerous isn't it?
It's probably about as dangerous as bowling if you are trained properly.
How old do you have to be in order to dive?
You have to be at least 10 years old to dive and be able to carry 30 pounds on your back.
Will I get motion sickness on the boat?
Seasickness affects everyone differently. If you've never been on the ocean, it's probably a good idea to take some form of motion sickness remedy such as Dramamine before your dive trip.
Are there any rules for flying on a commercial airliner and scuba diving?
You cannot fly for at least 18 hours after your last dive, but you can dive right after arrival to the Islands.
Can non-divers come along for the ride on the boat?
Yes, snorkelers and riders can come on the boat; because a reserved seat is taken though there is a $45 charge for riders.
Should I make reservations in advance and if so when?
Yes, dive reservations should be made in advance, usually 3 days will suffice but we will take reservations as short as 14 hours before diving.
Can my reservation be cancelled?
Yes, 24 hour advanced notice must be given for a full refund. Cancellations made less than the 24hour period will incur all charges so please plan and reserve your dives accordingly.
